I challenged myself this year to get super specific with my daily rhythms.
Not just, “oh I’ll drink more water” but rather, every afternoon I’ll drink my Lemon Lime Collagen and marine plasma electrolyte shot.
Not just, “oh I want to be less anxious” but rather, I’ll commit to waking up early and reading my Bible, praying and having a few peaceful moments for my heart and brain before the hustle of the day.
After a few days of super specific rhythms, I saw results, and that kept me faithful in pursuing these micro additions to my day and our family’s too.
You may look at this list and think “wow that’s a lot.” You might think it’s difficult to incorporate these rituals daily, but I challenge you to take the time to sit down and write out your rituals. You may realize you are already doing more than you think.
I read this quote from Justin Whitmel Earley’s book Habits of the Household (if you haven’t read it, get it!!) that so precisely captures the beauty of rhythms: “I want routines that poke holes in the ceiling of life, so the the light of the divine can shine through.”
Rhythms bring light. Rhythms bring joy. Rhythms bring calm.
